Continuing Education and Advanced Workshop

Core Dynamics offers workshops to Pilates practitioners concerning more complex physical issues and Pilates related topics. Michele Larsson has taught historical Pilates since 1979 and movement and dance classes since 1965. Michele's background includes working with all ages from children to seniors in both the healthy and post injury environment. Her unique ability to identify body imbalances, postural conditions and individual needs combined with years of experience in how to apply Pilates exercises appropriately provides a stimulating learning environment for workshop participants.

These workshops fulfill continuing education credit as required by Pilates Method Alliance.

Anatomy

  • A two or three day Pilates related anatomy workshop is offered by Christopher Potts and Ruth Alpert. Contact Core Dynamics for more information.

The Eve Gentry Approach-Continuing the Gentry Tradition

  • The two-day Eve Gentry Approach explores how these pre-Pilates exercises assist with Pilates Method, problem solving and individualizing a Pilates lesson. This workshop is taught by Celia Hulton and Michele Larsson.

Pilates Level 5

  • The two-day Pilates Level 5 workshop is offered by Michele Larsson, Dilla Mastrangelo and Christopher Potts. The workshop teaches level 5 exercises on all equipment, preparation exercises for the client, increasingly difficult variations or familiar exercises and client safety.

Scoliosis

  • Michele Larsson leads this two-day workshop on the condition of Scoliosis, how to identify the condition and understanding the implications for the individual. The participant will learn how to adapt Pilates for this condition as well as exercises specific to scoliosis. Additional information is presented on working with clients who have either spinal fusions or rods.

The Mobile Spine

  • The two-day workshop focuses on common spine problems and how to adapt and structure a Pilates lesson around these issues. Participants will learn the importance of spinal mobility and stability and how these two situations influence the Pilates exercises chosen for a client. This workshop is taught by Michele Larsson.

Developing Your Own Creative Choreography

  • Michele Larsson leads this three-hour workshop on applying your skills in new and exciting ways. Learn to see the potential in every Pilates exercise and explore ways to create new programs, new exercises and new movement experiences for your clients and yourself.

How To See

  • Michele Larsson developed this 3-hour workshop to assist the participant in developing  skills for accurate assessment of a clients posture and movement. Activities will include various methods to explore body position and movement and the relationship to equipment.

Pilates and the Client with Pain

  • Christopher Potts and Dilla Mastrangelo offer insight into working with clients who have low back pain, arthritis and other pain syndromes. Focus is on working within the scope of a Pilates instructor to learn how to use assessment tools, pain management strategies, home exercise programs and the benefits of Pilates for those with these conditions.

Pilates for Women in the Childbearing Years

  • Dilla Mastrangelo and Dr. Andrea Witlin lead this course covering the physiology of pregnance and hormonal changes in women during the childbearing years relative to teaching Pilates. Topics included common issues with post partum and the Pilates approach to teaching this population.

Pilates for Golfers

  • Virginia Nicholas leads this workshop toward improving overall golf performance through Pilates. Pilates exercises help improve your putting, driving, chipping and boost overall performance on the green? This weekend includes exercises designed to activate the core muscles (increasing strength) improve rotation (better backswing) and stretch the body (enhancing flexibility). These exercises are valuable additions to keep your performance on the course at its best. No prior Pilates experience necessary.

Pilates Choreography

  • Virginia Nicholas teaches a Pilates Choreography sequence of 4 nine-minute Pilates mat exercises choreographed into flowing movement. This workshop will examine and review each of the sequences. Through personal practice, all 4 levels of Mat sequences may be executed, depending on your strength, stamina and available time. When practiced on a regular basis, these exercises improve strength, flexibility and coordination. The benefits gained from Pilates choreography enhance appearance, and improve posture and tone. This workshop is a great opportunity to learn new ways of exploring Pilates.

Wunda/Split Pedal Chair Workshop

  • The Pilates Chair class is a fun aspect of the Pilates work that provides many benefits to participants. The exercises explored in this workshop enhance strength, appearance and performance along with improved posture and circulation. This workshop introduces you to a series of beginning, intermediate and advanced Chair exercises. Participants should have prior Chair experience.
